This is a colorful illustration of a Cone-Top Sea Shell (Tectus conus, a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Tegulidae). It first appeared as plate #167 in the book "Neues Systematisches Conchylien Cabinet" by Friedrich Martini, a German physician and conchologist. Martini began work on the book in 1769. Later, Johann Chemnitz added to the multi-volume book set.
