DESCRIPTION:
This is a colorful illustration of a Nautilus Shell (Nautilus pompilius, a marine mollusc of the cephalopod family Nautilidae). It first appeared as plate #137 in the book "Neues Systematisches Conchylien Cabinet" by Friedrich Martini, a German physician and conchologist. Martini began work on the book in 1769. Later, Johann Chemnitz added to the multi-volume book set.
