DESCRIPTION:

This is a colorful illustration of a Green Snapper fish (Lethrinus esculentus), a tropical fish that lives in the Indian Sea. It first appeared as plate #158 in the book "Histoire Naturelle des Poissons" by Baron Georges Cuvier, which was published in Paris in 1828. Cuvier, was a French naturalist and zoologist, sometimes referred to as the "father of paleontology".
